Hazardous Materials Task Force

The Cache Valley Special Operations Coalition was created October 6, 2006 between the Cache County Fire District, Logan Fire and EMS. The original agreement also includes the North Logan and Smithfield Fire Departments which also Cache County Fire District member departments. The automatic and mutual aid agreements between the Cache County Fire District and the various fire department within Cache Valley and the automatic aid agreement between Logan, North Logan and Smithfield, each who authorized the sharing of resources and assets to meet the operation needs of each participating departments and district for the purpose of responding to complex or serious hazardous material emergencies. The coalition was created to support and encourage the sharing of resources as necessary to achieve operation effectiveness and efficiency on hazardous material emergencies that have the potential to exceed the abilities of any on entity. Over the past several years is became quite clear that neither Logan City Fire nor the Cache County Fire District had the financial, material or human resources necessary to adequately maintain effective hazardous materials teams where a high level of expertise and equipment was necessary.
As a result, the Cache County Fire District and the Logan City Fire Department agreed to form the Cache Valley Hazardous Materials Response Task Force under the direction of the Cache Valley Special Operations Coalition.
The task force is currently made up of certified Hazardous Materials Technicians and Operations firefighters from various stations from the fire district and Logan City Fire.
